Rangers keeper Allan McGregor stopped me getting hat-trick, says Hamilton goal hero Ross Callachan

Ross Callachan was the goal hero in the end for Hamilton yesterday as he equalised with the last kick of the ball in the 1-1 draw with Rangers.

But the Accies midfielder feels he could have had a hat-trick if it wasn't for the heroics of Ibrox goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The Rangers No.1 was in inspired form to keep out the Premiership's bottom side until the 94th minute at New Douglas Park.

He had already denied Callachan from point-blank range after the rebound from a Scott McMann strike fell at his feet and then turned away a blistering free-kick as it headed for the far corner.

But McGregor was eventually beaten when he made another outstanding stop to palm away a Bruce Anderson header, only for Callachan to mop up the rebound from a tight angle and prove persistence does pay off.

It was no more than the fine Accies display deserved and Callachan said: "It was the last kick of the ball. I've never scored with that being the case before, so that was quite strange.

"I was disappointed with the chance I had before, I felt I should have done better.

"The wee free kick was a good save from McGregor again, so I think I could have had another one or two today, but it wasn't to be.

"I'm just glad to get the goal in the last minute.

"He's brilliant. He's done that his whole career and he got man of the match, so that shows you how good we were."
