Rangers ‘keep eye’ on Bilal Brahimi as French youngster impresses watching scouts

Rangers are keeping a 'close eye' on French winger Bilal Brahimi after he impressed a number of visiting scouts, according to a report.

The 20-year-old has been on loan at French third tier side Le Mans from Reims and has scored six goals and two assists in 16 games for the club so far this season.

And according to FootMercato, Rangers are one of a number of clubs who are watching him but they face competition from the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1.

They say the Ibrox side are keeping a close eye on him but Stuttgart, Lens and various Italian clubs have been sending scouts to games and have been impressed by him.

Brahimi started his career at Middlesbrough but played just one first team game before leaving to joins Reims.

He signed a new deal at the Ligue 1 outfit before moving to Le Mans and earlier this season, said: "I want to join Le Mans. I hope to have some playing time and good statistics.

"I want to break everything this season and come back through the front door to Reims. I want to come back stronger, to have at least thirty matches in the National and especially to get promoted. I will give my best to achieve these goals."

Steven Gerrard has spoken recently about continuing to look to strengthen his squad, and is looking to seal a deal for Colombian teenager Juan Alegria.

The Premiership outfit were also rumoured to be interested in signing Billy Gilmour on loan but Gerrard rubbished those claims.
