Rangers 'keen' on Manchester United youngster as Premier League sides set for loan war

Rangers are running the rule over Manchester United youngster James Garner after the midfielder’s impressive season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old scored the only goal as Chris Hughton’s side secured a vital Good Friday three points against promotion-chasing Cardiff City in the Welsh capital.

Garner has made seven appearances for the Red Devils under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but only two of those have come in the Premier League, with the majority arriving in the Europa League.

Forest fans are desperate to see him remain at the City Ground after a string of promising displays since cutting short a loan at Watford earlier in the campaign.

But the player’s agent Steven Beck has warned a host of sides, including the Premiership champions are keeping tabs on his progress.

“I had a couple of chats with John Murtough [Man Utd’s football director] last week, but I’m so relaxed on the situation, as is James because things are going so well for him," Beck told Manchester United fan site Stretty News.

“James has put himself in a great position where he’s probably going to have, if he does go out on loan again, the majority of the Championship and I would be amazed if one or two Premier League clubs don’t try and do something.

"I know Brighton like him, I know Norwich like him, I know Rangers are really keen on him as well.”

Garner quickly endeared himself to the Forest faithful with a goal against rivals Derby County, before adding his second in 13 appearances earlier this week.

Steven Gerrard may have to reinforce his midfield line up in the summer with reports linking Glen Kamara to an Arsenal return.
