Rangers 'join chase' for Manchester City youngster wanted by Manchester United and RB Leipzig

Rangers are believed to have joined the chase for highly-rated Manchester City youngster Charlie McNeill.

The England youth international is set to leave after six years at the club, during which he has scored around 600 goals.

The Mirror reported in May that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and Serie A giants Juventus were keen on him.

According to a Daily Mail report this afternoon, 16-year-old McNeill is also thought to be a target for City's rivals Manchester United.

They say, however, that talks between City and Rangers are understood to have taken place at the weekend.

The report also says that City are interested in winger Dire Mebude from Rangers' academy.

Kemar Roofe, meanwhile, could soon complete his move to Rangers.

Steven Gerrard was credited with an interest in the English forward last summer, but he opted to move from Leeds United to Anderlect.

27-year-old Roofe has been hampered by injuries in his first season in Belgium, making 16 appearances and scoring seven goals.

Belgian website HLN Sport today reports that Anderlecht are willing to let Roofe join the Ibrox club, and that he is expected to sign a four-year deal once "far-reaching negotiations" are concluded between the clubs.
