Rangers 'join Celtic' in targeting West Ham midfielder Grady Diangana

Rangers are reported to have joined Celtic in the race for West Ham youngster Grady Diangana.

The 22-year-old midfielder came up through the ranks at the London club, and made 21 appearances before spending the 2019/20 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Diangana, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has played 29 times for the Championship side and scored seven times.

Celtic were earlier this week reported to be interested, and now The Herald say that Rangers have contacted the player's representatives.

They report that Diangana would prefer to remain at West Ham, but wants first-team football and is willing to contemplate either a loan or permanent move in order to get it. It is believed that Diangana would be open to joining Celtic or Rangers.

Celtic keeper Scott Bain, meanwhile, has insisted that Neil Lennon's side don't need to worry about "outside noise" after Rangers striker Jermain Defoe said his team "can go all the way".

As quoted in the Scottish Sun, Bain said: “The players have shown they are more than capable of handling any pressure that gets put on them.

“As a squad we don’t read into what anyone else is saying.

"We just know that if we do the job we set out to do, and do it to our full ability, then we can come away with three points.

“We always focus fully on one game at a time. If we can play the way we’re capable of, we can ignore the outside noise."
