Rangers' Joey Gallo suffers non-displaced nasal fracture from collision with Matt Bush

ARLINGTON _ The Rangers could open a series at the Los Angeles Angels without slugger Joey Gallo and reliever Matt Bush.

They came out of the game on Sunday after a hard collision while chasing a pop-up in the infield during the eighth inning of a 3-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Globe Life Park. The Rangers said Bush bruised the right knee and Gallo had a small non-displaced nasal fracture in addition to a swollen nose and upper lip.

Bush and Gallo were held off the Rangers' charter flight to southern California. Each will be re-examined on Monday.

Because there was head-on-head contact, each player went into Major League Baseball's concussion protocol. Before either can play again, the club's primary physician, Dr. Keith Meister, must determine that:

_All symptoms are at rest.

_Impact results have returned to baseline.

_Meister determines it is safe for the player to return.

"Any time you see a collision like that, there is a level of concern," manager Jeff Banister said. "When there's blood on the field, there's more of a level of concern."
