Rangers are reportedly "interested" in an 18-year-old Manchester United defender.

The Ibrox club are said to be keen on James Overy, who could boost their right-back options.

According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are closely watching the situation of the defender, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils. He is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

Overy has already been called up to the Australia national team squad and is considered one of the top talents of his age group. The Guardian previously highlighted him as one of the best players born in 2007.

He is eligible to play for Scotland through his mother but has so far aligned himself with his country of birth, representing Australia at the youth level and featuring at last year’s Under-20 World Cup.

Overy began his career with Perth Glory before joining Newton Abbot Spurs in England’s tenth tier. He signed for Manchester United in 2024, stepping up from the under-18s to make several appearances for the club’s under-21s last season.

Australian clubs are also reportedly interested in the defender.
