Rangers injury latest as key man faces race to be fit for Hamilton Accies clash after Benfica knock

Scott Arfield faces a race to be fit for Rangers' match against Hamilton Accies on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard is hopeful the midfielder will be recovered in time for the upcoming Premiership clash, despite picking up a knock in the dramatic 3-3 draw away to Benfica.

Arfield was a second-half substitute for Gerrard's side in Lisbon but has been a first-team regular in the Rangers midfield three for large chunks of the season.

Gerrard said that there are a few other bumps and bruises within his squad following their Europa League match, however there's nothing serious enough to pose a major concern ahead of Sunday.

Long-term absentee Niko Katic is Rangers' only real injury problem at the moment. Jordan Jones and George Edmundson remain unavailable for selection due to their Ibrox suspension, and self-isolation period.

Rangers boss Gerrard and Connor Goldson were awarded the SPFL manager and player of the month awards earlier on Friday in recognition of their efforts throughout October – a month in which the club won all of its matches, conceding just one goal.
