Rangers injury blow as Michael Beale confirms Kieran Dowell 'problem'

Michael Beale has confirmed Kieran Dowell is out injured for Rangers.

The midfielder will not feature in the Champions League play-off round second leg against PSV due to a "slight problem".

Rangers travel to Eindhoven with the scoreline balanced at 2-2 after the first-leg in Glasgow last week.

Ibrox boss Beale confirmed the injury blow in his pre-match press conference but otherwise reported a fully fit squad.

He said: "Kieran Dowell is the only one missing with a slight problem with his knee. It's not a big problem, this match is just too soon for him."

Commenting on the match - which could see Rangers advance to the group stage - he added: "There won't be too many suprises, but we have a lot of variety across the forward positions.

"We know we will need to be strong defensively first and then take our opportunities when they come.

"It is a hugely exciting week if you are a Rangers player or follower.

"These two games are what it is all about playing for this club.

"This is a huge moment and it is important we give this game everything."

Meanwhile, Todd Cantwell insists he is bursting with excitement ahead of the crucial European showdown.

"It is every players dream to play in the Champions League. We are looking forward to the match tomorrow," he said.

"As a player you have to beleive in yourself and your ability. You want to play in these competition. It is just excitement for me.

You have to maximise all the opportunities you get. Every game at Rangers is a big game and it is your responsibility as a player to show that.

"We pay no attention to the result from last year, all our focus is on the match tomorrow night.

"It is important we stay strong in our shape and take our opportunities when they arrive in the match."
