Rangers increase Covid-19 precautions as Steven Gerrard's men take no risk ahead of Europa League trip

Rangers won't visit Slavia Prague's Sinobo Stadium when they arrive in the Czech Republic on Wednesday as part of increased Covid-19 protocols.

And they have requested that every staff member at the hotel they are staying in has a negative result on a Covid test before they arrive.

Czech Republic has one of the worst levels of Covid-19 issues in the world at present and Rangers don't want any unnecessary risks on their trip.

They travel to Prague on Wednesday for Thursday night's game, and every member of the playing squad and staff returned a negative test before travelling.

And they've decided against doing the usual trip to take in the surroundings or train at the stadium they will be playing on Thursday.

The Ibrox club feel it is paramount to their player's safety that they increase their Covid-19 safety protocols ahead of the trip to the Czech capital.

Steven Gerrard is already excited for the game and expects a tough tie with the Czech league leaders.

Ahead of the game, he said: "We will tell the players they need to be ready and at their very best to complete this challenge because Slavia are a very good team.

"They are a very efficient team, really strong and powerful. Can run a lot and also play from a technical point of view. We're well aware of the size of this challenge and we have to be at our very best to complete it.

"Slavia's performance over both legs was extremely strong. Leicester are a very good team with a good coach who have had an excellent season.

"Instantly it made you aware of the size of the challenge we're going to face. This is a team who are going extremely well domestically so as I say before, we have major respect for the opposition, for the players, for the coach. As I've said before, we know we have to be at our maximum in terms of performance to get this job done."
