James Bisgrove has confirmed Rangers are in talks to appoint a director of football.
The club has not had someone in the role since Ross Wilson's departure to Nottingham Forest with Michael Beale operating without one during his tenure.
However, the chief executive has confirmed an appointment of a director of football could be "imminent" with conversations ongoing with candidates.
On whether a director of football would be appointed after Philippe Clement's appointment as manager, Bisgrove commented: "That's a conversation Philippe and I have had, it's one Philippe has had with the board.
"To provide some context, both the chairman and I and the board recognise the leadership and governance of the football department is absolutely essential to our short, medium and long-term success.
"In that regard, we have a football board with a number of leaders across the football department; we have our chief scout John Park, we have Craig Robertson our director of football operations, the chairman and myself, the manager, Dr Mark Waller and our academy director.
"We feel we have got a really strong group of leaders that will implement the strategy and take key decisions, whether that's player contracts or player acquisitions.
"But all of that said, we do believe a director of football, a technical director is something that would add additional value and it's a live conversation that we are having at the moment."
Asked when an appointment could be made, he added: "Certainly in the next few weeks, if not months. We are having live conversations at the moment.
"There are variables in that, depending on the individuals that the board believes, football board and Philippe feels has the best fit.
"But, I believe it will be imminent."
Clement added: "We spoke about sporting director, what the role is, and how it needs to be aligned with the manager."
