Rangers in strong response to Celtic's Glen Kamara message and Rio Ferdinand's Michael Stewart blast

Scottish football has rallied around Glen Kamara after he was allegedly subjected to racist abuse.

The Rangers midfielder claims Slavia Prague midfielder Ondrej Kudela called him an a "f****** monkey" during the Europa League clash.

Rangers, Steven Gerrard and the Ibrox faithful pledged their support to the Finn since the incident on Thursday night.

Celtic also made it clear they stand firmly against all forms of racism and bigotry in the aftermath of the incident.

And now other Scottish clubs have backed Kamara in Saturday's 3pm kick-offs.

Motherwell, Dundee, Livingston, Hamilton and Dundee United all showed solidarity with some clubs choosing not to take the knee to call time on an "empty gesture" and reiterate the message that racism is not acceptable.

The Ibrox club then responded to Celtic's stance with a strong "Old Firm United" message, before thanking the other Scottish clubs for their support with a series of tweets, saying "Scottish Football United".

Pundit Michael Stewart condemned the flashpoint as well, but felt the situation needed to be approached with caution as UEFA investigate the matter.

He citied an incident between Ross County and Rangers earlier in the season where Michael Gardyne was accused of a homophobic slur, but later cleared of any wrongdoing.

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand criticised the former Hearts man, saying: "Educate yourself, comments like this are why people suffer in silence & are scared to speak out!"

This prompted Rangers to respond to Ferdinand's tweet with a "British Football United" message.
