Rangers 'in line' for Billy Gilmour cash windfall as Chelsea contract details and bumper sell-on clause revealed

Rangers could cash in further from their deal to sell Billy Gilmour to Chelsea after it was revealed they agreed a number of incentive based clauses and a whopping sell-on fee.

The sale was understood to be in the region of £500k at the time but a new report has claimed the fee was actually closer to £2m.

The Sunday Post suggest that the Ibrox club received a payment totalling £250k upon the midfield schemer's debut in the first team and will receive a further payment of the same amount when he hits 10 starts.

Further milestones should take the total to above £1m.

A sell-on fee of 15 per cent would mean that Rangers have the potential to make a huge wedge from any potential future sale.

Reports coming out of Spain yesterday suggest both Real Madrid and Barcelona have looked at the player but Chelsea would be unlikely to sell the jewel in the crown of their youth set-up for anything less than top dollar.

The 18-year-old is likely to make his fourth start for the club today against Everton.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard feels the player is equipped to deal with the level of pressure ans expectation coming his way.

He said: " We had Wednesday off, so I'm sure he enjoyed it. He should do, his family were here for the game.

"Knowing Billy, even at a young age he's a very determined young lad, he's very smart.

"He'll understand it was a very good game for him but that the hard work starts now.

"I think he should quite rightly enjoy the moment, and I'm delighted for him.

"But in terms of how I've seen him around the place, it's the same attitude, same training, same ethics, same quality; so all good."
