Rangers in fixture switch up as Europa League playoff impacts on Ross County clash

Rangers trip north to face Ross County has been pushed back due to their Europa League playoff.

Steven Gerrard 's side had been targeting a push for the Champions League group stage this season but couldn't see off Malmo in the third round.

They now drop into the Europa League playoff with some mammoth trips on the horizon on Thursday, August 19.

They will have to face the winners of Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan or Alashkert of Armenia.

That means that the County clash has been pushed back 24 hours to a 3pm kick-off on August 22.

A Champions League qualifier would have taken place on the Tuesday or Wednesday and may not have impacted on the Staggies' Premiership clash.

Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring for Rangers on Tuesday, before 10-man Malmo hit a quick fire double after the break, though, like they did in Sweden last week that was a devastating blow to the Gers.

An Antonio Colak double fired Malmo into the lead with goals within four minutes of each other.
