Rangers in fan group meetings as they reiterate stay at home message after Nicola Sturgeon demand

Rangers have revealed they have held talks with key supporters groups to ensure there is no plans for any gatherings ahead of Sunday's clash with Celtic.

The Ibrox club have reiterated the stay at home message sent out by Steven Gerrard and James Tavernier earlier this week which was well received by supporters.

Nicola Sturgeon thanked the club for their efforts during her daily briefing on Monday but urged them to continue to repeat the calls throughout the week.

And Rangers have now confirmed they've been having meetings with supporters groups and 'key influencers' to ensure they stick to the rules this weekend.

It comes after crowds had gathered at Ibrox and in George Square 10 days ago when the Premiership title was confirmed as returning to Rangers.

Supporters partied in the street to celebrate their first championship in a decade with Rangers urging them to go home, and they hope they stick to the rules this weekend.

A short statement said: "Rangers can confirm that we met with supporters groups and key influencers this morning, in relation to the Old Firm game at Parkhead on Sunday.

"We are very pleased that our support is fully aligned on our messaging which has been underlined by both our manager and captain over the weekend.

"Stay at home. Stay safe. Support the NHS. Support Rangers FC."
