Rangers in brutal dig at Celtic and John Kennedy with sarcastic 'best team in the league' quip

Rangers aimed a brutal dig at Celtic and John Kennedy following their Scottish Cup win at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard's side remain on course for a Premiership and cup double after beating their rivals 2-0 in the fourth round on Sunday.

Build-up to the fixture featured an added edge following Celtic interim boss John Kennedy's assertion that his side, on their day, remain the best team in Scotland.

Kennedy further elaborated by explaining he simply believes his side can reach a level of performance that can any beat any squad in the country, including Rangers.

But that didn't stop the official Ibrox Twitter account from having a go at the caretaker manager.

In the minutes following full-time, the club tweeted a picture of their players celebrating with the caption: "A win against the best team in the league."

An acrobatic effort from Steven Davis followed by Jonjoe Kenny's own goal proved enough for Gerrard's men to set up a last eight clash with St Johnstone.

Odsonne Edouard epitomised a wasteful Celtic display by having a weak penalty saved by Allan McGregor in the second half.
