Rangers in boardroom reshuffle as Three Bears investor is appointed

Three Bears investor George Letham has been appointed to the Rangers board.

Former chairman Dave King confirmed he was selling his shareholding to fans’ group Club 1872 earlier this year with fan representation on the board one of the objectives.

The South African owns 20.37 per cent of the club through New Oasis Asset Limited which makes him the largest shareholder in the Ibrox club.

The process of purchasing all of King’s shares is ongoing after the first batch were bought late last year, but there has been a boardroom reshuffle in the meantime.

Letham’s appointment to the board at the Scottish Premiership leaders was included in documents filed to Companies House.

Along with Douglas Park and Geore Taylor, Letham was one third of the Three Bears group that invested in the club when King completed his takeover in 2015, seizing control from Mike Ashley-backed regime Rangers International Football Club,

And he’s now joined Park on the board alongside John Bennett, Alastair Johnston, Graeme Park, Julian Wolhardt, Barry Scott and James Blair.

That will give him a direct say in the running of Rangers, who look set to capture a first league title since 2011 ahead of the club’s 150th anniversary next year.

Steven Gerrard 's team are 21 points clear of Celtic at the top of the table.
