Rangers' Ianis Hagi is Lazio transfer 'target' with Italians prepared to pay big money

Ianis Hagi is reportedly a transfer target for Lazio.

The Romanian joined Rangers on a permanent basis last summer after an initial loan from Genk persuaded Steven Gerrard to part with £3million for the son of football legend Gheorge.

But now the Serie A club are set to test the Gers’ resolve and offer to triple their investment with a £9million offer for Hagi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

He’s provided nine assists and six goals as the Ibrox club cruised to the Scottish Premiership title this season.

His impact in the Europa League has been particularly impressive and Lazio are aiming for a return to European competition next season after their Champions League campaign was ended in brutal fashion by high-scoring Bayern Munich.

And Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has apparently been impressed with Hagi this season and wants to take him to the Italian capital.

Simone Inzaghi’s side need more creativity after a much lower goal return from last season and they see Hagi as the ideal solution to help ublick stubborn italian defences.

Hagi’s versatility also appears, with the 22-year-old able to play in either flank, behind the striker or even up front.

The newspaper reports that Lazio would offer around €10million (£8.6m) to try and convince Rangers to sell.

Hagi has previous experience in Serie A, having previously been on the books at Fiorentina.
