Rangers hold interest in loan deal for £500k former player linked to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest

Rangers are said to hold an interest in taking Josh Windass back to Ibrox.

Windass moved from Rangers to Wigan for £2.5m in 2018 following 13 goals in 55 appearances over two years at Ibrox.

However, he has struggled for form at the Latics, leading to reports he could be on the move this month.

Bristol City are one of three Championship clubs linked with a £500,000 move for the 26-year-old, along with Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City.

The attacker is unlikely to be one of the Robins' highest priorities, however, with the club having had stronger links to both Ivan Toney at Peterborough United and Lyle Taylor at Charlton Athletic.

Respected analyst Football Stewart has now claimed, however, that Windass' former side Gers also hold an interest in the player - albeit a minor one.

"I think one will come in," said Stewart (via Rangers News).

"Only thing I’ve heard is Rangers retain a minor interest in bringing Josh Windass back on loan but file under unlikely.

"Scouted plenty in France but nothing seems close. Majer died down a bit as well."
