Rangers heroes rave about Alex Lowry composure on first start for Gio van Bronckhorst's side

Rangers heroes Craig Moore and Neil McCann were wowed by youngster Alex Lowry during his first start for the Ibrox side in last night's 1-0 win over Livingston.

The midfielder has soarted to prominence since making his debut off the bench in last week's Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion.

And he was rewarded with his first start in Light Blue for the Premiership clash by boss Gio van Bronckhorst.

Rangers own the clash thanks to a second-half strike from Scott Arfield, but Lowry had another strong showing in front of a packed Ibrox.

Various Rangers legends including Ally McCoist have been impressed by the youngster's ability so far and former defender Moore and ex-winger McCann are the latest to heap praise on the Uddingston teen.

During half-time analysis of the game on RangersTV, Moore picked out a first-half opportunity he created for Cedric Itten.

And he said: “Look how comfortable he [Lowry] is on the ball.

"That’s real confidence: can go both ways, stands the defender up, put’s a great ball in and Itten’s got to be on the end of that. For me that should be a goal.

“It's fantastic attacking play in that wider area. Just that ability to jink and go both sides gives him a lot of options.”

McCann added: “The confidence to go and try and eliminate people in the penalty box is exactly what you want from forward players.”
