Rangers hero Barry Ferguson reminds me of Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon, says Chris Humphrey after playing under both bosses

Motherwell legend Chris Humphrey reckons Barry Ferguson's management style reminds him of Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon.

The winger is currently playing in the Lowland League for Fergie's Kelty Hearts and Humphrey admits he can see similarities between the Rangers hero and Lennon, who brought Humphrey to Hibs in 2016.

Appearing on The Lanarkshire Football Show podcast, Humphrey was asked about working with Fergie and he said: "It's been brilliant.

"He's a born winner, another guy that wants to win.

"He reminds me of Neil Lennon, actually.

"If you are not winning or not playing well, you know about it.

"Off the pitch, what a guy. He runs through brick walls for his players, so I'm really enjoying that."

Humphrey also spoke about the time he turned down Ally McCoist's bid to sign him for Rangers when he was approaching the end of his contract at Fir Park.

He added: "I had a conversation about going there (to Rangers), but I was loyal and loved my time at Motherwell.

"To go down and play in League Two, why would I leave Motherwell to go and do that?

"I know it's Rangers, I get it. They are a massive club and people say, oh the money you would have earned.

"But I could have stayed in the SPL and do great things with Motherwell.

"I wanted a new challenge and ended up going to Preston.

"To be fair, it worked out for me there. I got a promotion from League One to the Championship, so that was fantastic."

Listen to the podcast below as Humphrey also chats about playing under Craig Brown and his assistant Archie Knox, his best days at Well under Stuart McCall and giving up on management after a short dugout spell at Gretna.
