Rangers hero Barry Ferguson hits back at Jason Cundy's Celtic 'fourth tier' talkSPORT radio rant

Barry Ferguson has launched a passionate defence of the Scottish game in response to loudmouth talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy.

The radio show host branded Celtic a 'fourth tier' side following their Champions League draw with Shakhtar Donetsk that ultimately ended any hopes of playing in Europa League football after Christmas. He also claimed Ange Postecoglou's side and the rest of Scottish football are 'miles off it' as he took aim during his Sports Bar show with Jamie O'Hara.

The former Tottenham midfielder defended the Hoops at the time as Cundy continued with his on air rant. However, Rangers legend Ferguson has now hit back at the former Chelsea man after hearing him put down the level of the game north of the border despite never experiencing it during his career.

Fergie played down south and has always backed up the game here whenever it was looked down on as he gave his response to the claims made by the 52-year-old.

Speaking on Go Radio, the Ibrox hero said: "I always stick up for Scottish football. These guys have never came up here and played.

"It is a hard place to play. Look, maybe the football is not the best but do you know what? You need to give 100 per cent up here and I don't like when the English have a go at our game.

"It was like that when I went down there and played. It was kind of looked down on a wee bit.

"But listen I always stick behind the Scottish game."
