Ally McCoist revealed on-air sparring partner Chris Sutton was among the first to congratulate him on Rangers' title success.
But the Celtic legend admitted the contents of his message weren't for sharing on TV.
Ibrox hero McCoist beamed as he declared he just had to let the nation know Sutton had been magnanimous in the wake of Steven Gerrard's side officially ending his former club's push for 10 In A Row.
But neither of the pair was willing to divulge exactly what was said.
McCoist teased on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra: "It's been an eventful week. I've got to say, marvellous for Rangers to get over the line, they've been brilliant.
"And I have to let the nation know, this gentleman here was one of the first to send me a message.
"He went me a message last Sunday that was very much appreciated.
"No pun, nothing to it. He, sort of, semi-congratulated me."
Sutton, too, wasn't for fessing up to his message.
He joked: "We can't repeat the message on TV, can we?"
The Record Sport was, however, fulsome in his praise of the way Rangers wrapped up their first title since 2011.
Sutton continued: "In terms of their mindset, to go from the last two trophyless seasons and perform like they have is an incredible turnaround.
"It's testament to the players, really, the way they've turned it around, the way they've had that belief. The recruitment has been shrewd and Ross Wilson deserves a great deal of credit.
"They've just been such a force. Celtic have imploded, you have to say that.
"But Rangers, out their on their own, they have been outstanding."
