Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been caught up in a Covid storm as the Colombian national team rails against a new law in the country - which could put a Copa America homecoming in danger.
A ruling that forces any new arrivals into the South American country to present a negative test for the virus before being allowed to enter has become a hot topic across the land.
The ruling was initially kiboshed but a high-ranking judge in the capital of Bogota has reinstated the measure, which brought the ire of the country's sports minister Ernesto Lucena.
And the official Twitter account for the national team also aimed a blast in the direction of those on the side of enforcing the ruling, and claimed the South American tournament was in danger.
They said: "We share the minister's concern that this ruling could affect international football in 2021. It would put at risk: Copa America, Qualifiers, South American Sub-20, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Junior Pan-American."
Colombia are due to host next year's Copa America - jointly with Argentina - and are also in the mix to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
But both the team and Lucena are scared recent developments could put both of those in danger, with the politician adding: "I am concerned that the application of this ruling will put our international sporting events at risk in 2021."
Rangers frontman Morelos has made 10 appearances for his country - scoring one goal - but none of those have been at a major tournament.
And the recent controversy, if the Colombian FA are to be believed, could mean that wait continues.
Morelos has featured regularly for Steven Gerrard's side this season and became the club's record scorer in Europe last month with a goal against Benfica in the Europa League.
