James McFadden insists Rangers have a target on their back after their 1-0 defeat to Dundee United and they need to sharpen up.
But the Sportscene pundit believes Charlie Mulgrew should have been sent off for his foul on Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian striker spun the former Celtic defender and looked to have a clear sight of goal before Mulgrew dragged him to the deck.
Referee Don Robertson flashed a yellow rather than a red, believing that Ryan Edwards was close enough to cover Mulgrew’s error.
McFadden isn’t so sure, but insists Steven Gerrard will be demanding his players lift the tempo against Malmo on Tuesday after losing their first Premiership game in 17 months.
He said: “Rangers have a target on their back and they have to up the tempo, the work rate and the speed of their passing.
“It’s been evident in their last two games that it’s too slow. They have to up the tempo.
“That is a huge warning for them and it's a massive game for them on Tuesday night now.”
“I’m not sure. When you see it at fill speed, it looks to me that Morelos is going clear. He takes a brilliant touch and Edwards is covering, but I think that Morelos is clear and he’s going into the box.
“I think he’s favourite and can get a shot away. Edwards is in a good position and maybe that’s why but he only makes up the ground because Charlie Mulgrew makes the foul.
“I think that Morelos is going through on goal there. It’s a tough one though and the referee has got one look at it.
“But I think he’s got it wrong.”
