Rangers handed injury boost ahead of Celtic clash as key man passed fit for national team

Rangers have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of this weekend's Old Firm derby.

Borna Barisic has been passed fit to play for Croatia against France tomorrow evening.

The full-back has been struggling with a knock ever since limping off in the home victory over Ross County last Sunday.

There were fears among the Rangers support he could be a doubt to face Celtic after he missed national team matches against Switzerland and Sweden.

However Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic has revealed his absence was just a precaution he should be fine for Wednesday evening's international.

He said: "Barišić is fine now, we didn't want to take any risks with him, he skipped those two games, but now he is completely ready and will be ready for the French."

News of Barisic's availability will come as a boost to Gerrard, who could be without Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe as they recover from injury.

Rangers have also been sweating over the fitness of Filip Helander after he withdrew from the Sweden squad last week.

Earlier we took a look at the three big team selection decisions facing Gerrard ahead of this weekend. You can check out the full article here.
