Rangers' Glen Kamara supported by Motherwell chief Alan Burrows

Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows has called for stronger measures to tackle the prevalence of racism in society.

It has been reported that Rangers star Glen Kamara was subjected to racial abuse by Slavia Prague's Ondrej Kudela in last night's Europa League clash.

The Gers midfielder reacted furiously to a comment whispered in his ear by the Czech player and it sparked confrontations between angry Rangers teammates and their opponents.

This season, players in Scotland, and across the world, have been taking the knee to support the battle against racial inequality and Steelmen chief Burrows has questioned if enough is being done to eradicate racism from sport.

The 'Well supremo tweeted: "We need to send a stronger message and those not involved in a particular incident should no longer remain pacifist.

"We skirt around racism and discrimination until alleged incidents like this happen and then we promise to do better.

"Meanwhile black people and other ethnic minorities only suffer, but live with stigma and prejudice - or the fear of it - every day of their lives. It's not good enough.

"Alleged incidents like this happen, then they pass. And what changes?

"Sportsmen and women use their platform to take the knee, but nothing in society really changes and that itself eventually becomes weekly wallpaper.

"We all need to send out a strong message that this is unacceptable and act on it."
