Rangers given Braga warning as Portuguese managerial legend hails Europa League opponents

Portuguese coaching legend Jesualdo Ferreira is tipping Braga boss Ruben Amorim to become an "oustanding" manager.

The Liga Nos side face Rangers tomorrow night in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash, having pulled off a famous win over Benfica at the weekend.

Amorim, 35, hasn't lost a game since taking charge - despite the fact he doesn't have the necessary badges to coach the team from the sidelines during top flight matches.

Ferreira knows a thing or two about top-level football, having bossed Porto, Benfica and Sporting, and he's tipping the youngster for the top.

The 73-year-old, now in charge of Brazilian giants Santos, said: "They all laughed when Braga announced it was promoting Ruben Amorim to manager. No one's laughing now.

"Everyone who doubted him has been silenced. Ruben Amorim has injected aggression into Braga and maybe that was something they lacked.

"They lacked the mentality needed to go and win against big clubs in the league and he's changed that.

"They said he didn't have the qualifications to be a manager, but that has nothing to do with the quality of his work.

"He can't coach from the dug-out during games and he's still achieving these results!

"For that alone, he deserves the highest praise.

"Braga are a club that are going places. They maybe lack the size, structure and supporters of the big clubs, but that will change once they start getting titles and they will under Amorim, who will be an outstanding manager."

Amorim spent much of his career working under Jorge Jesus, but cites Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho as his reference point.
