Rangers given 96 per cent chance of winning Premiership as supercomputer predicts huge Celtic points gap

Rangers have been given a 96 per cent chance of winning the Premiership this season by number crunchers FiveThirtyEight.

The supercomputer ranks the chances based on current points and form and Rangers are now almost certain to win the league according to the pollsters.

And they also predict that there will be a 15 point gap between Rangers and Celtic at the end of the season, with the Ibrox men set to break the 100 point barrier.

Steven Gerrard's side have dropped points in just two games this season and FiveThirtyEight say they will finish with 101 points, which will be 15 ahead of Celtic's 86.

The current 19 point gap can be cut to 10 if Celtic win their three games in hand, so the current projections would see Neil Lennon's side struggle in those matches.

Rangers were at just 90 per cent prior to Saturday's win over the Hoops and the 1-0 victory pushes them an extra six per cent closer.

The table is bad news for Ross County at the other end with the Staggies tipped for relegation.

The full predicted table

Rangers - 101

Celtic - 86

Aberdeen - 64

Hibs - 57

Livingston - 50

Dundee United - 45

St Mirren - 44

Kilmarnock - 43

Motherwell - 38

St Johnstone - 38

Hamilton - 35

Ross County - 31
