Rangers get Ibrox fan increase for trio of games as they target 'full house' for Champions League clash

Rangers will have 17k supporters inside Ibrox for their opening Premiership game of the season against Livingston.

The Ibrox side have been hoping for more fans in the ground and were ‘disappointed’ to only have 2k against Arsenal on Saturday.

But now they will step it up over the next two weeks with more than 20k allowed in over two days when they face Brighton and Real Madrid this week.

They'll have 8,500 inside the ground for the Brighton clash before 12,750 are allowed to watch the game against the Spanish giants.

And that will then be stepped up to 17k for the opening day of the season when Steven Gerrard's side take on Livingston at Ibrox.

The club also say the ‘expectation’ is they will have a full stadium at Ibrox for the Champions League clash with Malmo or Helsinki on August 10.

They’ve revealed that tickets for the two friendlies will be decided through season ticket holders enrolled in the home friendly scheme and Myers members, while the Livingston game will be a ballot of their season ticket holders.

A statement said: "Following further discussions with the Scottish Government and local authorities, Rangers have been granted permission to host 8,500 supporters at Saturday’s match with Brighton & Hove Albion, and 12,750 at Sunday’s Real Madrid fixture.

"The stadium capacity for the upcoming Scottish Premiership opener with Livingston has also been set, with 17,000 fans permitted to attend on July 31.

"Under current Scottish Government roadmap plans, it is our expectation that we will have a full house at Ibrox for our UEFA Champions League qualifier with Malmö FF or HJK Helsinki on August 10."
