Rangers get full capacity go ahead as Ibrox set for sell out for Malmo clash

Rangers have confirmed they will have a sold-out Ibrox for their Champions League qualifier with Malmo next week.

Steven Gerrard had called on the Rangers support to get behind their team for the full game and be the 12th man as they try to overcome a 2-1 first leg defeat.

And they have now been given the go ahead to have a full crowd inside Ibrox after Glasgow City Council agreed they could open up the stadium to every season ticket holder.

It's a major boost for Rangers after fears it could have been delayed when First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed that events over 5000 would still need to ask permission.

It will be the first sell out crowd in Scottish football since Rangers' clash with Bayer Leverkusen back in March 2020 just days before the Covid-19 pandemic shut the country down.

And in a short statement, Rangers said: "Rangers can confirm there will be a full capacity at Ibrox Stadium going forward, subject to conditions prescribed by the Safety Advisory Group of Glasgow City Council.

"The ticket office will be in contact with season tickets holders today to confirm the process for ticket allocation for Tuesday’s match v Malmö.

"We cannot wait to hear you roaring, from the stands of Ibrox Park."
