Rangers flop Lee Hodson claims English League One is 'as good' as Scottish Premiership

Lee Hodson insists the standard of football in England's League One is just as good as the Scottish Premiership.

The Rangers flop joined Gillingham after just 27 games in three years at Ibrox that included a loan spell at St Mirren.

But he reckons that the level of football in England's third tier is at the same level as the top flight in Scotland.

He's joined at Gillingham by fellow former St Mirren loanees Alfie Jones and Matty Willock, who played less than 30 times between them for the struggling Paisley outfit last season.

But Hodson is looking forward to playing against clubs such as Sunderland and Portsmouth.

He told Kent Online: “Rangers is a massive club and I was playing infront of 50,000 fans at home games but the standard in League 1 is just as good as the Scottish Premier League. (sic)

“There are massive clubs in League 1 nowadays, the likes of Sunderland, Portsmouth and teams like that, they have been in the Premier League, there are massive games, Bolton as well and that is what you want as a footballer, you want to be playing at these stadiums, going there and getting three points and being competitive.”
