Former Rangers flop Eros Grezda has been hit with a public order offence fine for assaulting an opponent in a car park after a game.
Croatian club Osijek took a hardline stance on the incident, fining the Albanian international a national record £50,000.
But local courts have been kinder to Grezda with a fine of only £89 for the flashpoint last summer where he attacked Rijeka star Antonio Colak in a parking lot following Osijek's Croatian Cup semi-final defeat.
He claimed he was the subject of racist abuse and that's why he reacted against Colak, but he later apologised and had to face the huge fine, which was the maximum of 20 per cent of his salary for the entire season. He was also handed a four-game ban.
But the incident went to court and this week it was revealed Grezda was found guilty at the Rijeka Municipal Court of violating Article 13 of the Law on Misdemeanours against Public Order and Peace. He was fined 769 Croatian Kuna, around £89, and ordered to pay the court case costs too.
Signed by Steven Gerrard in 2018 for around £2m, he had a big reputation from his time in Croatia but Grezda's 18 month spell at Ibrox was ultimately disastrous.
He seems set to leave Osijek in the coming days and is out of their first team picture although there is interest from clubs in Hungary.
