Rangers flop Carlos Pena in heartfelt title plea as he fights against 'null and void' ending

Rangers misfit Carlos Pena has penned a social media rallying cry to Mexican football's decision makers urging them not to deny his side promotion to the top flight.

The 30-year-old is now with Correcaminos in his homeland and they were right in the title mix before COVID-19 brought a stop to the beautiful game last month.

And the Mexican - an unmitigated disaster during his 18 months in Glasgow under Pedro Caixinha - has urged the league to keep the season alive and avoid a null and void conclusion in the name of sporting integrity.

Pena, posting to his personal Facebook page, said: "I would like to ask the leaders of Ascendas Mx not to steal our chance to win the promotion to First Division.

"We ask to finish this tournament, we prepare all these months and it is not fair to steal that possibility, we are many players, that we are affected, families that depend on football and that for the interests of a few who intend to kill football this is over.

"We just ask to respect the essence of sport and all of us who love football."

Pena's former employers Rangers are have been unequivocal in their stance over how the Scottish season should conclude and voted a resounding no against Friday's season-ending vote proposed by the SPFL.

But Dundee hold the final say and the Dens Park side's vague statement on Tuesday has Scottish football no closer to a resolution.
