Rangers fixture reshuffle as St Mirren clash moved amid Europa League rescue bid

Rangers' home clash with St Mirren has been moved due to the Ibrox side's Europa League commitments.

Steven Gerrard's side will now host the Buddies at 3pm on Sunday, August 9 - 24 hours later than originally planned.

The expected reshuffle comes as the club prepare for their last 16 second-leg clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday, August 6.

Rangers trail 3-1 from the first leg at Ibrox back in March - the last senior match in Scotland to be played in front of supporters.

If Gerrard's team overturn the deficit, it will force the SPFL into further adjustments with the Europa League set to be completed as a "mini-tournament" over two weeks in August.

The competition was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic following attempts to fulfil fixtures behind closed doors.

Instead, clubs will travel to Germany to complete the final rounds in empty stadiums.

The meeting with Jim Goodwin's side is set to be Rangers' first home fixture of the campaign, with the 2020/21 Premiership term kicking off a week prior on August 1.
