Rangers 'fight off' Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle interest to tie down highly-rated duo on pro deals

Rangers have convinced Jack Wyllie and Calum Adamson to pen pro deals despite stiff interest from English's top flight, according to a report.

The Daily Record claim that both youngsters have agreed to make the step up from the Ibrox academy and remain at the Light Blues to begin their professional careers. They will both sign two year contracts starting in the summer in a major boost to the Ibrox side.

It is reported both Arsenal and Tottenham made approaches to land Wyllie but the centre-back has decided to remain in Glasgow despite serious interest from the North London pair. His team-mate Adamson was on the wanted list of the likes of fellow London outfit Crystal Palace and Champions League chasing Newcastle United but he's also decided he would be best staying at Rangers over a move south of the border.

It is reported that Craig Mulholland is a major reason behind both players remaining in Govan. They've both played with higher age groups and will be hoping to be the next in the recent successful line of academy graduates.

Nathan Patterson got himself into the first team picture and has since moved to England with Everton. He's also a regular in Steve Clarke's Scotland set-up while Leon King was thrown into the likes of big European nights against Liverpool and Napoli this year with a defensive crisis at the club during Giovanni van Bronckhorst's reign.

Adam Devine and Alex Lowry are two others who have picked up top team minutes and continue to push to become regulars in the squad and force their way into Michael Beale's plans.

It's a big summer to come at Rangers with an overhaul of the playing squad to come. A number of new names have been linked with moves to Ibrox including Jack Butland and Chris Willock while reports claim a move for Morgan Whittaker is back on.

Departure wise, the futures of the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Filip Helander and Scott Arfield are all up in the air with contracts just weeks from expiring and no news either way on what is happening beyond the summer.
