Rangers festive fixture at St Mirren given new start time as clubs agree on kick-off request

Rangers have brought their final game of the year forward by more than four hours with the December 30 clash at St Mirren now slated to kick off at 3pm.

The Ibrox side were due to face the Buddies at 7:45 on the Wednesday fixture date, but the game has become the latest Premiership fixture to be moved before the end of the year.

Hamilton's trip to St Johnstone will also kick off at 3pm, while Hibs v Ross County and Motherwell v Kilmarnock were shifted from their later slot to 6pm and 6:15pm respectively.

It comes just hours before the Gers' travel to Paisley in Betfred Cup action this evening.

A full midweek calendar of top-flight fixtures on Wednesday, December 23 have also been moved from their traditional 7.45pm kick-off slots after an agreement between all top flight sides.

Fans remain locked out of stadia across the country during the festive period, while the two dates do not feature any games picked up for coverage by Sky Sports.

It means there are no restrictions on clubs rescheduling games, provided they both agree to the terms.

A row developed between Celtic, Hibs and the SPFL earlier this month over the Parkhead side's move to push back the kick off date and time of their January meeting in Glasgow by more than 48 hours.

Hibs initially turned down the request, but SPFL guidelines state that such decisions favour the home team provided there is no additional congestion caused by moving the fixtures.

It meant the game was moved without Hibs' approval, leaving chief executive Leeann Dempster "fizzing".

However, there have been no such issues between the Buddies and the Gers, with the move passing with no opposition.

Jim Goodwin's side host the Ibrox outfit at the Simple Digital Arena this evening from 8pm.
