Rangers fans' unofficial anthem causes a stir in Australia as 'Live It Up' comeback leaves broadcasters baffled

Rangers fans have caused a stir in Australia after adopting Mental As Anything "Live It Up" as an unofficial anthem.

Supporters have pushed for the 80s Aussie hit to return to number one in the charts after using it to taunt rivals Celtic.

Ultras group the Union Bears used the track in a viral video where they plastered stickers of Connor Goldson 's winner in October's derby all around Glasgow.

The song's rise back up the charts hasn't gone unnoticed down under, even if many media outlets are unsure why it's suddenly back in the limelight.

Rangers fans are bidding to keep the track top of the pile to claim a Christmas number one.

Its unlikely renaissance was discussed on Australia's "Sunrise" breakfast show this week, with all roads pointing back to Steven Gerrard 's team.

Host Edwina Bartholomew said: “Now for a blast from the past, an Australian classic has risen to number one in the UK charts, 35 years after it was released.

“Live It Up by Mental As Anything has been adopted by the Scottish football club The Glasgow Rangers.

“Rangers fans are also hoping the song will take the coveted number one spot in the Christmas charts in two weeks time.”
