Rangers fans told to 'grow up' by MSP after horrific Rugby Park scenes

An SNP MSP has hit out at Rangers fans, telling them to "grow up" after they caused mayhem at Rugby Park on Sunday.

Willie Coffey reckons the fans' behaviour was "outrageous" after they destroyed the Chadwick Stand disabled enclosure's roof.

Images also emerged of away fans forcing their way through a gate as kick-off approached.

Mr Coffey said: "The behaviour of Rangers fans at the game was outrageous. Yet many blame Kilmarnock at every turn for their own actions.

"Barging through a gate, jumping on top of a disabled supporters’ shelter and running on to the park is somehow all Killie’s fault?

"It’s time these fans grew up and started acting responsibly when supporting their team.

"Killie fans faced ticketing queues the other week but we didn’t barge through the gates or demolish seats.

"The players need to stay on the park too because it sparks off this kind of response.

"We have plenty of clubs who come to Rugby Park without any trouble at all.

"But it’s only when Rangers and Celtic visit that we seen this kind of behaviour.

"It has to stop. All Killie can do is keep on cutting their ticket allocation until their behaviour improves.

"And the SPFL needs to do more.  I suggest they get the clubs and supporters groups together to see what we can all do to help turn this round."
