Rangers fans stake 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' origins claim as they recall cult hero's famous Celtic winner

A Rangers fan has shared a clip of Ibrox in raptures with Scotland cult chant 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' ringing out loud.

Baccara's disco classic has been claimed by the national team with the tune gaining recognition after it was part of Aberdeen star Andy Considine's stag do video.

The stopper is now a member of the national team with the track also gaining traction after being adopted by Simon Ferry's wildly popular Open Goal show in recent months.

But Ibrox diehards have unearthed a clip of them saluting Shota Arveladze to the song from when they defeated Celtic 2-1 in a League Cup quarter-final back in 2004.

The Georgia international grabbed a dramatic winner for his side as Alex McLeish's men ended seven consecutive defeats at the hands of Martin O'Neill's side.

Replies to the post on social media state that tune was a regular when Arveladze found the back of the net while others admitting they don't remember the song choice.

The former Ajax striker is regarded by a section of the Ibrox support as one the most underrated players in recent memory.

Arveladze boasted an impressive goal record of 57 goals in 132 appearances and was a key member of the Treble winning side of 2003.
