Rangers fans react to Bayer Leverkusen game being played behind closed doors

It was confirmed on Tuesday night that Rangers' last-16 Europa League second leg against Bayer Leverkusen would be played behind closed doors.

With the German club's BayArena stadium situated in the North-Rhine Westphalia region, which has more diagnosed cases of Coronavirus than any other region in the country, the news had begun to feel inevitable.

Most fans took the news on the chin, but there were a few reactions that stood out.

Here's a small sample.

"Can we blame Tav's Lamborghini?" - @RobertMcdermid

"See if ye go to Leverkusen to watch it in pub cause you're pure staunch then come back and die with coronavirus, yer no getting a minute's applause during a game" - @BMcK_MRT

"Worked the Rangers game at Inter Milan that was played behind closed doors in 2005. The blagging that went on from lads trying to get in was tremendous. Home made passes, suits pulled over Rangers tattoos. Sure one fella tried to say he was Chick Young" - @markbenstead

"Sh***bags" - @EwanKeirs, @Chrownco, @DeclanTennant72, @lolzathon, @ElEuagg, @wulliek72, @deseannelson99, @Camykeys420 and @BatuMack

"Was looking to go to the Rangers game. Is the second leg still good?" - @ActiveAinsley

"This is the second leg" - @GovanLoyal72

The first leg takes place at Ibrox on Thursday night, with no restriction on fans attending.
