Rangers fans lap up We Are The People Euro 2020 anthem and Celtic fan Bono is involved

Rangers fans earned praise from Australian 80s band Mental as Anything after adopting their classic hit Live It Up as their unofficial anthem on their charge to title glory.

But the light blue legions might help another song rocket up the UK charts if the title is anything to go by.

It’s been revealed that the official tournament track for Euro 2020 is titled We Are The People and to add a twist U2 and celebrity Celtic fan Bono is involved in recording it.

But given the title is a famous Rangers chant it’s unlikely to be high on the shopping list of many Hoops supporters.

The song is set for release later this month ahead of June’s big kick off with U2 teaming up with The Edge and Dutch DJ Martin Garrix.

Rangers supporters have chanted We Are The People for many years at Ibrox and the slogan was also plastered around the dressing room during Pedro Caixinha’s time in charge.

Caixinha said the motto was being used to inspire his stars and disrupt the opposition but didn’t work out as planned for the Portuguese who had a disastrous spell.

Rangers defender Niko Katic posted the message on his Instagram alongside a photo of him and ex-Ibrox striker Nikica Jelavic as he recovered from his current injury in Croatia.

Crocked Katic won’t feature at the tournament due to his injury but Rangers fans might take a bit more of an interest in the official anthem.
