Rangers fans' Jack Wilshere verdict as ex Arsenal star gets seal of approval from Ibrox support

Rangers fans want to see the club make a move for ex Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The 28-year-old England international has been heavily linked with a switch to Ibrox in recent days. Speculation began shortly after his contract at the London Stadium was terminated on transfer deadline day.

One report even suggested the player was in "advanced talks" with the Scottish Premiership club over a move.

But what do the Rangers fans think? Would Wilshere represent a smart piece of business – he's an experienced England international motivated to get his career back on track, after all?

Or would any deal represent too much of a gamble for the Ibrox club, given the player's injury record?

We asked supporters to vote in a poll on Glasgow Live Twitter, and the majority are in support of the deal.

We also asked fans on Facebook what they thought.

"Yes, as long as he stays fit. Still only 28 and could do some damage. But personally, yes I think he would fit into the Rangers squad and do well under Gerrard and Co." - Craig Duncan

Put him on a pay when you play contract, see if he agrees to that. I think that will tell you how much he wants to play for the famous Glasgow Rangers." - Andy Ritchie

"Yeah, cracking player but wouldn't pay silly money for an injury prone player." - David Harris

"One of the best midfielders in England at one point get him up" - William Mills

"Give him a go. He said he's been fully fit for 8 months. Couple games up to speed and he would boss games no doubt." - Gordon Frame

"16 league games in two seasons, not good enough. Could take him months to be match fit, months we don't have." - Alistair Patrick
