Rangers fans in early Ibrox title party as they let off fireworks and flares ahead of St Mirren clash

Rangers supporters got their title party underway at Ibrox as they gathered outside the stadium and let off fireworks.

Hundreds of fans were lined up outside the main door of the stadium on Edmiston Drive with blue smoke engulfing the area as they celebrated.

There appeared to be little social distancing in place among the supporters but many of them were pictured wearing masks as they looked to celebrate the club's first league title in a decade.

They still need four points to clinch it but could win it this weekend if Rangers win and Celtic drop points on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard was asked about the potential for fans having a title party outside the club's ground in his pre-match press conference on Friday and urged them to remain safe.

He insisted it was outside of his control but said it was down to others to deal with it, rather than him as club boss.

He said: “We all have to continue to try and abide by the Government rules and respect social distancing and stuff like that.

"But at the same time it’s out of my control and this is when you have to leave it to the security experts and people higher up the club than me to deal with these situations.

“I know a lot of rumours are going about but my job is to focus on the game and try and get three points. That's the priority for me. People have to understand the situation our fans are in and what they’ve been through and the priority is that they stay safe."
