Rangers fans hit out at board with banner over Union Bears’ section being closed down

A group of Rangers fans have hit out at the club’s board for choosing to close down the section of Ibrox Stadium that houses the Union Bears.

The Glasgow giants were ordered to shut part of their ground for this week’s Europa League showdown against Legia Warsaw.

UEFA handed out the edict after finding Rangers supporters guilty of racism and sectarianism during the win over St Joseph’s at Ibrox last month.

The club reacted by announcing the Broomloan front section one – where ultras sit – would not be open on Thursday. The Club Deck six and seven would also be closed for the playoff that hangs in the balance following the first leg 0-0 draw in Poland.

But although supporters who had bought tickets for the Club Deck were offered alternative seats within the stadium, no such offer was made to those who sit in the Broomloan front.

This has angered fans from that section who have now taken a pop at club hierarchy at the start of Sunday’s Premiership clash at St Mirren.

Punters unfurled a banner that reads "Everyone, anyone except BF1". This is a reference to the club’s campaign launched last month that promotes inclusivity at Rangers.

A picture also later emerged of another banner, one that read: "Their only crime was loyalty."

Steven Gerrard, as he did during Friday’s press conference, again urged supporters to be on their best behaviour prior to the game in Paisley.
