Rangers fans handed Beale Ball dossier as coach tips Borna Barisic and James Tavernier to reap rewards

Harry Watling says part of his primary objectives at Rangers will be to work on the club's defenders - and particularly the full-back's.

Michael Beale is in town as the new manager and fans will get a first look at what his teams look like in a friendly against Bayer Leverkusen this week, but the real stuff gets underway in just over's a week's time on Premiership business versus Hibs. First-team development coach Watling is part of the new backroom team after Gio van Bronckhorst's exit as gaffer, alongside former Arsenal man Neil Banfield.

After coaching experience at Chelsea, Millwall and West Ham, the 33-year-old was named a coach at QPR under Beale in the summer after managing American side Hartford Athletic. Watling tells Rangers TV the likes of James Tavernier and Borna Barisic will be amongst those he'll work closely on: "You are either cut out for it, or you're not.

"Working for a prestigious club like Rangers is a massive privilege so I am excited. Straight away you can see the level is high. The enthusiasm from the players since we came in has been top.

"Everyone has a bit more of a skip in their step which is great to see. I am really looking forward to helping them and their improvement.

"I am her to help develop individuals. We have a lot of exciting young players, and I want to help them get into the first team. The the manager wants me to focus on the defenders as a unit then more specifically, then more specifically the full-backs, how we can create and score goals from those areas."
