Rangers fans have gone through the seven stages of grief since Steven Gerrard ’s departure.
First there was shock, then came the pain. Anger and depression followed before they reached acceptance and hope.
Now, with new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst making it six games unbeaten with Sunday’s Tynecastle triumph, has come the final stage - gloating.
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “This Rangers team, who according to the Celtic contingent on here can’t play in front of crowds, seem to be fluking their way to another title.
“We are a totally different team now under Gio and 56 is coming.”
John Bruce emailed to say: “Celtic fans must be going bonkers at the resurgence in the Rangers team under Gio now that this season has taken on a familiar look to last year.
“An excellent 2-0 away win over Hearts is the latest in the Dutchman's unbeaten run and with three home games to come, Rangers have a great chance to put themselves in a dominant position before the Old Firm game.”
Thomas Marshall added: “To everyone who said Rangers would crumble after Steven Gerrard left, not a chance! We’ve got a better manager now in place and 56 is on the way. Catch us now Celtic!"
Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “That was a great three points at a difficult place away from home but once again Gio got his tactics correct.
“It’s another clean sheet and two good goals scored. I thought Allan McGregor was man of the match, especially the world-class wonder save in the first few minutes.”
But Hearts fan Rab Hunter, Dumfries, was unhappy with card-happy referee Nick Walsh.
“Following one of the most inept, inconsistent and unfathomable refereeing displays ever seen, it is clear to see that no team outwith the Old Firm will ever be allowed to challenge for the title under the current regime.
“There was 11 yellow cards in a game that hardly had a bad challenge yet the use of elbows, diving and an attempted headbutt all went unpunished.
“It’s simply ridiculous and evidence of an official out of his depth and with little understanding of the game, never mind the rules!”
Injury-hit Celtic got the job done against Motherwell thanks to Tom Rogic’s winner but it wasn’t a classic.
David Bryce, Troon, said: “Celtic did well to dig out a result however it’s horrid to watch without a focal point up front.
“Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor played well. Replacing Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi with Mikey Johnston and Liel Abada is akin to replacing a Porsche with a Fiat Panda!
“James Forrest’s time is up at Celtic. He is injury prone and has lost any ability he had, this must be his last season at the club surely!”
Rangers and Celtic go into the hat for the next round of their respective European competitions on Monday.
And Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: "Looking at the teams left in the Europa Conference League, Celtic have a decent chance of making the latter stages and despite what Rangers Hotline jokers say, this trophy is the equal of the Cup Winners’ Cup they won, which was very much Europe's third trophy after the Uefa cup arrived. That’s why it was scrapped first.”
But Eric Neil said: “What happens when Celtic get knocked out of the Europa Conference League, will they qualify for the Scottish Junior Cup as they’ve been in every other competition?"
Dundee United have lost three games on the bounce and Ronnie Swan has had enough of Tam Courts.
He said: “The misery goes on and on for the Terrors but never mind we've got a new director of something or other and a new academy being built. But hold on, we haven't got one single striker. You couldn't make it up! it’s now time for me to say I told you so, the crazy gang must go!”
And Kilmarnock fan Jim McClean, Rothesay, isn’t having Rugby Park boss Tommy Wright either after seeing their promotion hopes hit by Saturday’s defeat to Raith Rovers.
“So Tommy Wright is expecting a phone call from Willie Collum on Monday - the only phone call he should get is one from Billy Bowie asking for his resignation. The players are clueless and he signed ninety per cent of them.”
