Rangers fan with MND will 'die a happy man' after receiving cup final tickets from club

A Rangers fan with only months to live said 'he'll die a happy man' after bagging two tickets for this Sunday's clash against Celtic .

Rangers bosses gifted MND sufferer Ronnie MacLeod with two cup final tickets after he was turned away from Ibrox on the night of Fernando’s Ricksen’s emotional tribute match because of a ticketing mix-up.

Lifelong supporter Ronnie, 63, attended the match in September but was told his season ticket would not scan because a payment had not been made.

The Giffnock man, who cannot speak and is fed via a tube, produced his MND card – designed to help people recognise his condition – but was told he still would not be allowed in.

But instead had to walk six miles home in tears.

Ronnie with his wife Jacqueline (Jacqueline Macleod)

Ronnie's wife Jacqueline told the Record her husband cried tears of joy when he found out Rangers had offered him the ' in demand' tickets as their way of apologising for what happened previously.

Jacqueline added: "We couldn't believe it.

"Ronnie is absolutely delighted. He cries anytime anyone mentions it to him. He's just so happy.

"This would have been the first cup final match he had missed in 55 years and he was gutted about it.

"We could not source him a ticket from anywhere.

"When he pulled the tickets from the envelope he was estatic. To see him smile like that was amazing. He said if Rangers win he'll die a happy man. "

Jacqueline said her husband was gutted and felt let down by his club after the ticketing issue in September.

She said: "We were really disappointed and a bit let down. He's been a season ticket holder for over 50 years and deserved better.

"We're both very grateful to Rangers for putting this right and offering these tickets. We'll be forever grateful."
