Rangers fan 'missing half a hand' after firework he was holding blew up during title party

A Rangers fan allegedly came into hospital with 'half a hand missing' after the firework he was holding blew up.

Pyrotechnics were seen through the day yesterday with many jubilant Gers seen holding smoke bombs, flares or fireworks.

Footage on social media showed packs of flag-draped fans attacking each other, and launching traffic cones, plastic bollards and other missiles at lines of riot gear-clad police officers.

Images showed George Square strewn with hundreds of broken bottles, plastic bags and spent flares after crowds were moved out of the area at around 9pm.

An accident and emergency department source told the PA news agency one man came into hospital "missing half his hand" after a firework he was holding blew up.

Supporters have been roundly blasted by police chiefs and politicians with cops warning of many more arrests to add to the 28 already.

Five cops were hurt with around 15,000 people estimated to have swarmed the city centre.

Officers were allegedly pelted with flares and smoke bombs as well as items on the street during clashes around George Square.

Violence also erupted on the streets with people attacked.
