Rangers fan Jackson Waddell's heart-melting reaction to surprise trip to see Steven Gerrard and Ibrox heroes

This is the heart-melting moment Rangers-daft Jackson Waddell realises he's off to see Steven Gerrard and his Ibrox heroes.

The eight-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, was surprised with a trip to the Glasgow giants' training complex this morning ahead of a trip to Ibrox stadium for lunch.

Jackson's mum Jacqueline posted a video to Facebook of the touching moment the youngster learned he was about to fulfill every young Gers fan's dream.

She said: "He’s off to spend the day with Stevie G and the boys, watching them train then back to ibrox for lunch. He’s buzzin oot his wee heed."

The trip has been more than a year in the making after it was postponed to allow Jackson to travel 4000 miles for potentially life-changing surgery.

Jackson's fight to walk prompted a huge community response which helped raise £70,000 for surgery in the USA.

The Waddell family travelled to St Louis in the US for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), an operation that involves cutting nerves in the spinal cord helping to alleviate any tightness.

And he recently took 10 steps unaided and continues to put in the hours during gruelling therapy sessions.
